January 9, 2008 - Here are pictures of 19 puppy mill Danes who are currently at Polk County Animal Control.  They don't have names, so we identify them by their kennel number.

1. Princess.  Will not be adopted. she is a 3-time biter including mauling me.

2. Caleb. 116 lbs 17 month old Harlequin male.  2/11/08 update: Caleb is a very sweet boy, but slightly food aggressive. He would benefit from an experienced home and is ready for adoption.

June 18, 2008 Update: Caleb has been adopted.

3. George. 102lbs 17 month Harlequin male.  2/11/08 update: George is a nice boy and gets along with other dogs. Already able to sit on command and he is ready for adoption.

4. Iggy. 104lbs 2 year old male.  2/11/08 update: Iggy is extremely shy and needs to be an only dog. He is still working on coming out of his shell. He is available for adoption to a quiet home.

5. Sampson.  157lb 5 year old Harlequin male.   Sweet boy, wagging tail, very nice, lick sores on front feet.

6. Sebastian. 150lb 5 year old black male.  Crop flop ears, white chest, white toes, cement sores on back legs, sweet boy, always wagging.
2/11/08 update: Sebastian underwent emergency bloat surgery in February. Three vets worked on him for over four hours. Currently his medical bills are at about $3,000.00, but he is recovering nicely and has a very sweet and loving disposition. Due to his recovery needs Sebastian is not yet available for adoption.

June 18, 2008 Update: Sebastian has been adopted.

7. Lexi. 116lbs 2 year old black female with white chest and toes, quiet, wagging.

June 18, 2008 Update: Lexi has been adopted.

8. Saydee. 110lbs 4 year old Harlequin female with black blanket.  Fear barker, growling.

9. Jared. 120lbs one and a half year old mantle boy.  Very shy, does not approach, soft growl, needs TLC.

10. Greta. 106lbs 14 month old mantle female.  Does not approach, fearful, scared, will eat cookie when you walk away.  Sister to #15 Margo.

11. Royce. 117lbs 18 month old black male. White chest and feet, severe mange, open sores on muzzle, major hair loss, swollen back legs.  Shy, quiet, does not approach.

June 18, 2008 Update: Royce is available for adoption.

12. Libby. 114lbs 18 month old blue merle female.  Shy but appproaches.

13. Lola. 90lbs 14 month old Harlequin female.  Lick sores on front feet, skinny, some hair loss.  Shy, scared, does not approach.

14. Forbes. 126lbs 18 month old black male with white feet.  Very shy, does not approach, sits in his food dish.

June 18, 2008 Update: Forbes is available for adoption.

15. Margo. 109lbs 14 month old mantle female.  Sister to Greta #10.  2/11/08 update: Margo is still very shy and needs a lot of TLC before she can be adopted. Margo seems to have never been outside, she was one of the Danes in the mobile home.

16. Tilly. 113lbs 15 month old black female. Lick sores.  Shy, does not approach, pressed to the back of the kennel.

17. Maggie. 133lbs 5 year old mantle merle female. Wagging, growl talks, sweet.

18. Belle. 98lbs 2 year old mantle merle. Shy, does not approach, shivers, unique markings on face.

June 18, 2008 Update: Belle is available for adoption.


September 1, 2008 Update: Bell is looking much happier at her foster home.

19. Tatum. 96lbs 2 year old blue merle female with white feet and chest. Lick sores on front feet, stands still, no approach.

January 12, 2009 Update:
Tatum has been placed! She will now live with Donna and Sam in Hobe sound, FL. I heard from Donna this morning and she reports that Tatum is the sweetest, smartest dog she has ever known and is already making lots of two and four-legged friends.

January 12, 2009 Update:  Tatum has been adopted!
