Hi good evening you can remove Bruno from the web site he found a family already thanks you guys

--------------------------

Date: Dec 1, 2016

Hi Linda, my name is Vanessa. I'm the owner of Bruno. He's a 5 year old Dane. He's great with kids and other dogs. He doesn't like CATS. He's Merle Blue, born 6/19/11. I got Bruno when he was 8 weeks old. The only reason I'm rehoming Bruno is because my husband and I have a lot of health problems and we can't take care of Bruno anymore. I want a family to love and take care him. He needs some shots; he's not up-to-date. Bruno is a happy and healthy dog.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Saphira was spayed at animal coalition in Sarasota. Last weigh in she was 102 lbs. She was born in Minnesota on October 30, 2015. She is not papered. She eats Science Diet large breed puppy. She has allergies so she has to take Claritin 10 mg in the morning and at night. She is afraid of almost everything. Especially thunderstorm and cows. If you have any other questions. Please let me know.
Thank you,
Stephanie

I am happy to say we have already found a home for Moose. Once again thank you.

Date: Fri, Jul 1, 2016
Hello Linda, my name is Jarrod and I wanted to ask a few questions if you didn't mind. It is hard for me to say this, but I think I need to give up my 15 month Great Dane due to a few reasons. He is a sweet boy, but still a puppy at heart. He is not fixed yet. He is crate trained but my wife and I are expecting another baby soon and kind of worry about his energy. I'd like to talk more about him with you if you get a chance, and I am not just going to throw him out to someone who wants a cool dog. We truly do love him, but we are at a stand still right now. Thanks in advance.

Date: Jun 6, 2016
Please remove the postings as the dog has been placed with a new family. Kindly advise once completed.
Many thanks!

Linda - I am contacting you as I need help finding a good home for my 20 month old male Great Dane (attached photos). Unfortunately I am being relocating to an area where I will no longer be able to care for the dog and want to ensure that I can place him in a caring and loving home to put my heart at ease. Is this something that your rescue assists with?If so, can you provide me with some information as to how I could go about facilitating this to occur? I am on a short timeline due to how quickly my company wants me to relocate, so anything you can advise asap would be greatly appreciated.

Should you not be able to assist with placement, are you aware of other agencies that would be able to help?

Many Thanks from am upset Dane Daddy :-(

Dear Kent & the people at Great Dane Rescue of Tampa,

Thank you so much in helping me place my sweet Kobe in his forever home. The Dane community is one to be admired. I had so many wonderful people contact me with interest in him & the love was unbelievable. I have fostered many dogs, most of them pits & mutt mixes, never a Dane. They will change a persons life forever. I'm happy to say that Kobe found a home with a wonderful family who have a huge, fenced yard, a pool for his enjoyment & his own bed to sleep in but most importantly the time & love to give to such a sweet, large, emotional breed. I appreciate greatly you guys putting him on your site for me. The outreach was enormous & so fast. I tried to get back with every person that contacted me, in order of which the calls & e-mails came. If there ever comes a time when I cross paths with another Dane, I would love the opportunity to be in touch with all of you again. Simply phenomenal!

Hi Linda this is Tina Miranda, we spoke yesterday about the Dane I'm fostering, Kobe. Here's his story....

I live on a farm, therefore I become the dumping ground for anyone that has an animal they no longer want. Kobe came from a man I have know for 24 yrs. I was doing him a favor by fostering Kobe. The story I got was that he & his wife divorced, she wanted nothing to do w Kobe, he worked 12 hour days & his son was going to college & poor Kobe was locked in a house all day & they were simply looking for a better life for him. I have no idea if this is a true story or not. After the dog was brought to my house, this man I've know for 24 yrs, has not returned my texts, phone calls & he doesn't live at the address I have listed for him. Safe to say he dumped Kobe.
I have had Kobe 1 month now.

Kobe is a 3 yr old ( born: 3/24/13), Male, Harlequin Great Dane. He is 133 lbs & stands 6'2 on his hind legs. He is neutered, fully vetted, UTD on all shots, microchipped & on Trifexis monthly prevention. I took him to my vet last Fri & had his worm tests, rabies & nails trimmed. Kobe is also leash trained & knows basic commands with hand signals.
His behavior has changed greatly. The day Kobe was dumped off, he was scared & anxious. He paced constantly. It took a full week for him to settle in. There are 13 dogs, in total on my farm. Kobe did well with everyone of them. There are 2 that don't care for him, an old female Bassett & a very old shepherd mix. They are intimidated by his size & rightfully so. He has a monstrous, deep bark & he is playful & when he opens up & runs, he will mow a smaller dog over. Nothing aggressive, he's just HUGE. I also have horses, ponies, chickens, cats & ducks. He cares nothing about any of them. Squirrels however, he is on a mission to rid the world of! He is a typical Dane in the sense that he sweeps the counter tops & loves to curl up anywhere beside me. He is simply wonderful. He has one negative. He is friendly & happy with people.... Except when it's someone standing between him & a door or him & a fence. He is protective/ territorial & lets them know they are not welcome. If I allow someone in the yard or house, then he accepts them, and moves along. When I took him to the vet last Friday, he jumped in the back seat of my car & rode like a gentleman. When we arrived, he was perfect, allowed the vet & techs to handle him, 0 problems. Kobe is a great dog, he needs someone loving, that has time for him & a yard he can run in. All he wants is love & food!! Please help me find Kobe a forever home. Thank you so much.

Subject:RE: Surrendering a Great Dane

Good Morning to you. We currently have a 10 month old Great Dane that we are unable to care for. We got her at 11 weeks in Texas. Now in Tampa, FL - we are no longer in a house; we are in a 3rd floor apartment. We do not trust the dog with our 3 year old grandchild. With our much busier lives, we have no time for her. Would you be able to help us? Do you know someone who can?

Sascha-Luna is black, natural ears, not spayed. She is people friendly. We have no other pets, so can't say how she is with other dogs or cats.

Sadie
Around 100 lbs.
One year old.
Fixed and chipped.
Do not know about small child.
Small dogs, she can be aggressive with toys.
Very smart and loves affection.

Moose is a 14 month old black male with natural ears. He was given up by his owner because of he was too large and she couldn't handle him anymore.  He was living with several other dogs.  He is very sweet and very wonderful. Would love to keep him myself!  He is just a big goof!

Linda- My wife and I just (a few hours ago) rescued a Dane from a couple of college kids down the street. She is a beautiful and sweet 1 year old. We immediately took her to the vet and she seems to be in very good health. Her nails needed trimming and we treated her for flees. She is 90ish pounds and quite lean. As she has not been spayed we have scheduled that for next week and are going to talk to the Dr. about a stomach staple which we are finding is fairly common for Danes. Thoughts?

We are animal lovers who have a yellow lab and 2 cats. We also feed two feral cats in our neighborooh that we had fixed. Our intention is to find the very best home possible for this noble girl and to treat her as family until that time. We are reaching out to you to see if you know of any outstanding forever homes for Blue. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Subject: Looking for a good home for a Dane

Good Evening,
I am writing to you looking for some assistance and or guidance. I have a Great Dane that belonged to my Mother that suddenly passed away in January of this year. I tried to assume the responsibility of caring for Sadie but due to my busy work schedule I unfortunately am unable to continue caring for her. I do not want her to go to just anyone which is why I haven't advertised her on social media or anywhere else. My Mother has been her only care giver prior to myself. She is approximately 5 years old, is an inside dog and always has been, she is housebroken, caring, and so lovable. I really just need to find her a good home with a family that can love and care for her as my Mother did! Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! I have been unsuccessful in finding her paperwork showing her bloodlines but I do have paperwork from her vet. Again, I appreciate any guidance you are able to put forth.

Regards,
Candie

Subject:Two Great Danes in need of new homes

Okay, it's breaking my heart to do this. But, my mother is right. Recently I was given two female Great Danes, while I already had 2 dogs myself. They came from our old neighbor, who had 7. Well these girls HATE each other. They were brought over muzzled, and basically they told me that they could stay in their crates 24/7 and can come out alone for 'family time'. The one sister Roxanne, she apparently had been picked on as a puppy so being said, she's awkwardly aggressive towards other females. But males she is fine with.

Rosie on the other hand couldn't get more perfect. I love her to death. She goes out with my heard, she's been around our horses, pigs, kids, people, public you name it I've done it with her. I just can't keep them. It's not fair to the dogs I have, and it's not fair to the girls. I'd love to find them a good home, and they can foster with me until they find one.

If you can help let me know. I'll attached a few pictures for you. Thanks

The first and second pictures are Rosie. She would 'tickle' the kids with her nose.

The third picture is Roxie.

Silver is a one year old blue merle female. Good with dogs, cats and kids. Owners moving. She is dog aggressive and doesn't like men.

Chance is a 7 year old Harlequin male. He is blind. His owner was deployed. Chance is a very sweet, mellow dog.

Subject: Free Great Dane

I have a wonderful Dane that needs more love than I can give. Please email me back if you would be interested in finding her a safe and loving home.

Her name is Khaleesi. She is partially deaf (she can hear close up). She will be 3 in April. Very sweet. About 105lbs. She's a smaller Dane. Not spayed. Likes people a lot. Very sweet with kids and loves cats.

Serena is a one and one-half year old blue merle female with natural ears. She was an animal control seizure for abuse and neglect. She is very reserved and has not shown us much personality yet. She is food aggressive.

Zeke is a 1-1/2 year old Harlequin male with natural ears.   He was a product of divorce.  He is athletic and playful. He was neutered at the beginning of May.
Cleo is 16months old. She is Fawn, with natural ears. Raised with other dogs, cats and horses. Very sweet, loves everybody. The owner fell and broke her hip and had to give Cleo up. She only weighs 120 lbs right now, but is still growing! She is very large for a female. No small children or animals.
Abby is a 1-1/2 year old female Harlequin with natural ears. She is not good with other dogs. Abby loves people. She is good with cats, too.
Zahara is a 2 and one-half year old blue merle female with natural ears.  She is the sister of Barney.  She would do better either being adopted with Barney or as an only dog.  She is not as laid back as Barney.
Apollo is a 5 year old male. Good with older kids, cats, and dogs. He knows basic obedience. 155 pounds.

Subject: Danes need placed

I have a friend who is going through a rough divorce and needs to place her dogs. Two are Great Danes, one black female, one blue merle male. Both are altered, current on vaccines, HW prevention, etc. She had to move out of her house and the place she's moved into only has a small yard and the dogs are miserable. I'm also thinking that she's unable to afford to feed them.

She needs to place them both, and she'd prefer that they go together but they don't have to. I'm offering free obedience training to whoever adopts them but they're both already trained. It's more for the adjustment of the dogs and people, not really anything else. Both completely housebroken. Only problem is the blue merle doesn't like cats.

Any ideas?

Kerri

Karlee is a 2 year old Harlequin with natural ears. She likes kids, dogs, and cats. Owner can't afford to keep her.
Norma Jean is a six month old "Merlequin" with natural ears and blue eyes. Her owners are moving into an apartment and can't take her. She is a very sweet girly girl.

Photo Soon!

Malcolm is a ten year old fawn male with natural ears. He is visually impaired and hearing impaired. I adopted him out when he was ten months old to a lovely couple. Just recently, the wife, at 43 years old dropped dead in the living room. I just got Malcolm back at ten years old. He is shy. Loves to sit on the couch, with his front feet still on the floor.

Barney is a 2 yr old Harlequin with cropped ears.  He is quite petite.  He is what we would call apartment size! He looks exactly like his bigger counterparts, but looks like he was washed in hot water and shrunken!  He gets along with other dogs and cats.  He is quiet and very nice to live with.  His owners had a baby and had to place him.

Donkey was born Aug 1, 2008. She is black with a white "w" on her chest. She is spayed. She does have cherry eyes--I have had surgery to fix it, but they popped back out. She is great with children; she has been raised with my two boys.

I am looking for a home for my great dane. She is 3 1/2 years old. If you can help me please give me a call at xxxxxx. I have to find her a home ASAP. Thank you.

September 15, 2008:
Henry is a 2 year old Harlequin boy with natural ears.  He was running loose in Lakeland and picked up by Polk animal control.  He is a little shy but nice.  He is on the smaller side.  We just got him two days ago, so he has not shown us nuch personality yet.
Nala is a 1-1/2 year old Dane wannabe Lab-Aussie mix. She is a wonderful dog! She is housebroken, crate trained, and very sweet.

Gretchen is a 3 year old merlequin with natural ears. She is very emaciated, her weight when she arrived was 88 pounds.  She has happy tail syndrome (bleeding tail from whacking it into objects).  She does not appreciate other female dogs.  A good samaritan rescued her from a puppy mill in St. Pete.  She has entropion in both eyes.  She will have surgery to correct it when she gains weight.  The vet says that she does not weigh enough to put her under.

Jared is a 2-1/2 year old harlequin male with cropped ears. He gets along well with other dogs but no cats. His owners didn't want him anymore.
Cassie is a 6-1/2 year old harlequin with cropped ears and tail and blue eyes. She is very sweet and gets along with dogs and cats. She knows some obedience commands. She is somewhat food aggressive. Her owner lost his home.

Buddy is looking for a new family to love!

Buddy is a young adult neutered Great Dane/Cane Corso mix, approximately 2 years old. He is a big boy at 120lbs, and still in need of putting on just a bit more weight, which should be no problem since he has a very good appetite.

Buddy is very affectionate, great attitude (tail is always wagging), and well behaved. He walks well on a leash and sits on command. He does not have a high energy level and seems to just want to be someone's best friend.

Has shown no animosity towards other dogs. Not sure about cats but seems to have little prey drive.
He would make a very loyal companion to any family and is to be an inside dog, not a yard dog.
Adopters are required to complete an application, home visit, and provide vet and personal references.

Please do not contact Great Dane Rescue of Tampa Bay about Buddy--contact Diane Connors.

November 26, 2007 We are about to receive a large number of Danes (possibly over thirty!) from a puppy mill in Lakeland that is being shut down by the State of Florida due to poor living conditions. We are in great need of dog food. Pedigree is our preferred brand, but we can mix donations of other brands with it. Cash donations are also greatly appreciated, and help us with the Danes' medical needs. Arrrgyle (see the Available Danes page) is the first of the dogs from the puppy mill. Considering his problems, we expect significant medical expense with this group.

January 9, 2008 - Here are pictures of 19 puppy mill Danes who are currently at Polk County Animal Control.

January 2012 Update: Jasmine is living in Lakeland with her new family--mother, father and 11 year old girl. They really love her a lot!

March 6, 2009
Bernie Mac is a 10 month old black male with natural ears.  He is going to be a big boy.  He came from north Florida. His former owners were keeping him in a crate in the back yard.  He was not allowed out of his crate even to use the bathroom.  He is approximately 30 pounds underweight; shy but extremely happy to be alive!
Taleah ( Leo’s sister) is an 11 month old fawn female with natural ears. Very shy, thin. Puppy mill seizure in Polk County. Very sweet.

Leo is an 11 month old fawn male with natural ears. Puppy mill seizure in Polk County. Very sweet.

We also have a lab male named Louie that came with Conrad.  He is approximately the same age.  He is chocolate colored with black specks and spots.
April 14, 2009
Conrad is a 1 and one half year old black male from Levy County Animal Control.  He has natural ears.   He is very, very emaciated.
If you want a Dane that makes you smile, Shelby is your girl!

Shelby is a bit shy of strangers, but once she figures out you're one of the good people, her joy knows no bounds. Just saying her name in a happy voice makes her wiggle. Start talking to her in a squeaky voice and she becomes mindless with joy.

Shelby has two speeds; on and off. Open the door and she races out... then stops, then races, then stops. For all of that her favorite activity is snuggling on the couch.

Shelby gets along with other medium to large dogs, but she has a high prey drive so would not be a candidate for a home with small pets.

She is a young three year old, natural eared, merle.

May 12, 2009
Marla is a three year old blue merle female with cropped ears. Citrus County Animal Control found her running loose, and called us after they were unable to locate an owner. Marla is a happy soul. She is friendly with people and other dogs, and fully house trained. She walks well on a leash and has a soft temperament. She does not like thunderstorms and tends to whine a bit during them, but is not in any way neurotic about them. Marla has not yet been checked out by the vets, but will hopefully soon be available for adoption.
Photo Soon! Tobias is a 2 year old mantle boy with natural ears.  We got him from Levy County Animal Control.  He is brand new and has not shown us anything in the way of personality yet.  We know he was kept outside because he is sunburned.
Photo Soon! Dolly is a 2 year old blue merle female with natural ears.  She is a sweet girl, gets along with all other dogs.  We got her from Levy County Animal Control.

We picked up the new boy today from Gainesville (Alachua County Animal Control).  He is a 4 year old brindle boy with natural ears.  He is a nice boy and even knows some obedience.  He is underweight with hip bones showing.  We have decided to name him Sam.  He is a little shy right now, but is coming around nicely.  He is uncertain regarding the other dogs.

Samson is a 10 month old mantle boy with natural ears.  He is a sweet baby and loves to play rough.  His owners had health problems and were no longer able to take care of him.

Finnigan is a 7 month old fawn boy with natural ears.  He is a sweet baby, tender hearted with a soft personality.  His owners gave him up because they were busy with their children and did not have time to take care of a Dane puppy.
Frank is a 10 month old fawnequin.  He is very sweet and laid back. He is great with other dogs.  Owners gave up because they didn't have time for him.

Ben is an 8 month old black boy with natural ears.   He is very sweet.  Owner surrendered him.

Cooper is a 4 month old black male with white chest and toes. From a puppy mill seizure. He is very playful, very sweet.

May 18, 2010 update: Cooper was adopted by the same family that adopted Arrrgyle.

Malcolm is a 14 month old black boy with natural ears.  His owners did not want him anymore. He has severe demodectic mange with almost no hair on his body.  Was red and raw and skinny when dropped off.  Very, very sweet boy.  Happy and loving.

Malcolm is in foster care.  Click here to read what his foster mom says about him.

Lolly is a 2 year old mantle female with natural ears.  Shy.  Owners did not want anymore because they are having their third baby.

October 15, 2008
Valentino is a 2 and one-half year old black male.  He is LARGE boned.  He has cropped ears which were never taped, resulting in crop failure.  We just picked him up today from Citrus animal control.  He has a broken toe and large hygromas on both elbows.   He's a little lean right now and only weighs 130lbs, which is about 25lbs underweight.  He is very sweet and thinks he only weighs 5 lbs and tries to crawl into your lap every other second!  Valentino is a bit afraid of men right now, but comes around.
Kiki is a 10 month old Harlequin girl.  She is outgoing and turbo charged!  Gets along well with others.

Dallas is a 1 and one-half year old black male with cropped ears.  He is very, very, very, tall.  He is thin right now.  He is quite the clown and sweet as well.  His owners had six other dogs and couldn't keep him.  He gets along with other dogs and cats.

Photo Soon!

Nikki is a one year old blue merle female that was an owner give-up. They had gotten a divorce and neither had time for the dog. She is nice but a little hard headed. Gets along well with others.

Photo Soon!

Annabelle is a one and one-half year old black female with natural ears. She has white feet and chest. She was an animal control seizure that was tied to a tree and not fed. She is spring loaded and loves attention. She has the speed of a greyhound and the grace of a gazelle! Loves to please.

Arrrgyle is a fourteen month old mantle boy with natural ears. He was kept in the back seat of his owners' car for over a week and a half. Before that he must have been confined to a small crate since he has advanced arthritis in his spine. He also has bladder stones and pano in his left femur. He is terribly emaciated. He only weighs 85 lbs. He cannot walk on his left rear leg. All the muscles in his right rear leg are atrophied due to confinement. He is extremely sweet and wags his tail even when he is drinking water. He had thousands of fleas on him when the owner dropped him off. We sprayed him with flea spray many times and I have never seen that many fleas on a dog! He will need a lot of rehab and TLC over the next several months.

May 18, 2010 update: Arrrgyle is doing great and has gained 35 pounds.

Waldo #27 is a 2 year old mantle male with cropped ears.  He has been burned by cigarettes and they used a pair of pliers on his love handle.  He is only 102 pounds and should be about 170.  They also sawed off all four of his canine teeth so he couldn't bite them.  He is a very sweet boy, but very clingy.

Photo Soon!

Artemus is a 10 month old male blue merle with natural ears. He was boarded at his vet's office by owner and owner never returned for him.  He was then transferred to animal control after 6 weeks of boarding. Does not like men.  Is slow to trust humans.  He is very thin.
Phoebe is a 9 month old black female with natural ears.  Very, very shy, but sweet.  Owner gave her up because they had no time and children didn't like her.

Angel is a 1-1/2 year old harlequin female with natural (uncropped) ears.  She is scared of men. She was found running loose in Sebring in the road. She is a very sweet and clingy girl.

September 15, 2008:
Stevie is a 2 and one-half year old black male with natural ears.  He was found running loose in Brandon.  People report that he had been running the streets for five days.  He was picked up and taken to a vet in Brandon and then transported to us last night at 10:30 p.m.  His pads are bleeding and right now he can't walk.  We had to carry him into the house and out to potty.  He is always wagging his tail.

Update - September 25, 2008
Stevie has been reunited with his parents!  He was microchipped and we had him scanned.  He has been successfully placed back home.  His parents were worried sick!  We really could use a universal microchip scanner so that we can check incoming animals immediately.

June 12, 2008:  We just picked up a mother, father and 3 puppies from Citrus County Animal Control.

The mother, Jenna, is 6 months old, black with natural ears.  She is very emaciated, so skinny that they could not even microchip her.  She was dropped off by the owners with nine puppies.   Three had died on the way to Animal Control of flea anemia. When I arrived, three more had died because Animal Control had left the puppies with the mom and she had crushed them.  So now we have three two-day old puppies.  Two mismarked blacks and one mantle.

Admiral is a fawn male with natural ears, between 2-3 years old. He was an animal control seizure for abuse and neglect. The owner had 4 other dogs that were all fat and healthy, but this poor dane belonged to her husband whom she hated. So to get back at her husband, she confined the dane and purposely tried to starve him to death. As a full grown adult male, he weighed a whopping 72 pounds. his cheek bones were sticking out of his face farther than his eyes that were sunken into his skull. DISGUSTING! He is currently at the animal emergency clinic because of severe pancreatitis. They did not know if he would even live thru the night due to the malnutrition.
Dana is a 2 year old black female with natural ears.  Her owner didn't want her anymore.

Duke has wonderful house manners, is not much of a barker, and is very laid back. He get's along with other dogs just fine, but would not find being an "only dog" at all lonely. If you are looking for a calm and gentle companion to share your space, Duke is a great candidate"

His left leg is broken right above his knee and of course, right through his growth plate.
